On removal day itself, Andrew arrived first thing in the morning to make sure it all went smoothly. He had already measured up my new flat and worked out where all the furniture would go so we sailed through the day! He insisted on packing up all the breakable items himself rather than leaving it to the removal men, and he made sure I was properly settled in before he went back to my old house to check that everything was left in an adequate condition for the new owners. "Mr Andrew Hudson is an outstanding general building contractor and estate manager. My brother and I engaged Mr Hudson’s services in 2008 on a noteworthy recommendation from an estate agent. We were in need of a reliable, trustworthy and skilled general contractor to take over a failed renovation project on our long-neglected, family-owned residential property. We required someone we could trust implicitly, as we would be unable to oversee the daily operations of the project living as we do in Canada. Unfortunately, we had had some regrettable experiences with other local builders hired to work on our house previously; therefore, we desperately needed to engage an ethical, professional and effective fellow to see the project through on our behalf.  Mr Hudson proved himself to be exactly those things.

Mr Hudson presented himself from the outset as a hardworking, professional, honest and reliable businessman.  He quickly developed a plan to renovate our property and delivered comprehensive options for the project while observing strict attention to price and value. He presented a very specific and professional contract. His deposit and payment terms were very fair. 

Mr Hudson proceeded with a full interior tear-down and rebuild that included extensive electrical work, plumbing, gas service, plastering and decorating. He rebuilt the kitchen in its entirety, reconfiguring the space to improve ergonomics and aesthetics. He sourced and installed new appliances, cupboards and worktops. The overall result was stunning.  Concurrently, he undertook a series of significant exterior repairs and an extensive landscaping effort.  He was resourceful and knowledgeable about all aspects of the works.

I was particularly impressed by the vigour with which he attacked our project at every stage. He engaged the manifold areas of work with alacrity but also with forethought to the overall schedule. I saw no evidence of time wasted awaiting deliveries of needed items or waiting on subcontractors to perform specific specialty-trade related tasks. Throughout the project he was receptive to my critiques and changes to the scope of work. He worked diligently with me and my brother to satisfy our requirements and to craft a finished product that completely satisfied our vision for the property. He delivered on-time and on-budget. Indeed, he had the entire project completely done, and to a very high standard, in about three months. This was a remarkable and, quite frankly, unexpected achievement, especially given the problems I had experienced with previous local builders and other tradesmen.

My brother, a discerning builder and renovator in his own right, made two inspection visits to our property, one during the renovation and one more after the works were complete. He found no major faults with any of the work Andrew had completed or overseen. In fact, he judged Mr Hudson’s final product to be a “99 out of 100” in terms of quality, attention to detail and aesthetic result – both interior and exterior. Furthermore, since completing our renovation project, Mr Hudson has continued to provide excellent service as our property manager.
